The Seer of Shadows by Avi

Reviewed by Mrs. Bruno at Arongen

The year is 1872 and fourteen-year-old Horace Carpentine is an apprentice to Enoch Middleditch, a NYC photographer. Middleditch concocts a plan to swindle Mrs. Von Macht, who is from a rich Dutch family. She asks for a self-portrait and comes to find the ghost of her daughter Eleanor lingering in her picture. When Horace learns the truth about Eleanor demise from Peg, the Von Macht’s servant, serious action is needed to undo the damage of Middleditch’s trickery. Will Horace and Peg be able to stop Eleanor’s ghost from seeking revenge? Find out by reading The Seer of Shadows by Avi.
