Twelve-year-old Florence, living in an orphanage in London, gets word that she has an Uncle who has been searching many year for her. Happy to start a new life in the English countryside, Florence arrives at Crutchfield Hall and is greeted by a very wicked and cruel Aunt. Contrary to her aunt, uncle is very warm and uplifting, making Florence feel welcome and at home. Things are unsettling in this Victorian manor; strange apparitions appear, there is a sickly cousin she has never met and the servants are superstitious. Then one day, Sophia appears.
